Welcome to Harleysville Books Online!

Teachers/Schools

Harleysville Books is a community resource. Our expert staff offers these services to schools, teachers, and librarians.

We are Children and Teens' Book Experts

Consult with us about creating, building and maintaining your library or classroom collection. We’ll help you match books to your curriculum and recommend appropriate books based on age, genre, and/or author. We’ll also introduce you to new titles. Join our mailing list to receive our Teachers Toolkit with great book suggestions and giveaways for your classroom.

Join the Teacher Discount Program

We offer year-round discounts for schools, teachers and librarians (preschool through grade 12). Educators receive a 10% discount on all purchases; personal and for the classroom.  School purchases receive a 20% discount.  Contact Shelly (shelly@harleysvillebooks.com) for specific pricing.

Next time you are in the store, please show professional identification to apply or to update your existing file. You will then be eligible for educator’s discounts during the entire year.

Place Special Orders for Individual Books and Classroom Quantities

Schools may set up store accounts, and we take special orders for schools and teachers.

Attend PA Deptartment of Education ACT 48 Workshops

Harleysville Books is an Approved Provide of ACT 48 Credits for PA Teachers.  Our Authors & Educators Workshops are a great way to earn ACT 48 Credit and meet some local authors and illustators.

Required Reading Books

Send Us Your Class and Summer Reading Lists. We’ll keep a copy on file for your students and parents. We also can help you create your reading lists.  Contact Shelly Plumb at 215-256-9311 for special pricing programs for bulk summer reading programs.

Hold a School Book Fair

Harleysville Books  hosts many school book fairs every year. Schools receive 20% of participating sales made storewide during the fair. In addition, students and parents may buy books to donate to their classrooms and libraries. Please contact Shelly Plumb at 215-256-9311 for more information.

Attend Author and Illustrator Events

Harleysville Books hosts many events every year. Award-winning authors and illustrators speak to school groups and individuals about their work. Illustrators often draw as they speak. Events end with a Q&A and a book signing. Schools that would like to be contacted when a touring author is in our neighborhood should complete and return the Visiting Author Sign Up Form.

Authors in Schools Program

Harleysville Books sponsors many free visits in our area local schools.  Author visits strengthen writing programs and encourage children to develop a love of reading.  Book sales are an important part of the Authors in Schools Program.  Since these programs are at no cost to the school, the book sales are the only source of revenue since the author does not charge an honorarium.  Book sales help support Harleysville Books so that we may continue to provide the Authors in Schools Program.  If you would like to be included in an author visit, please send Shelly an email at shelly@harleysvillebooks.com.
