BEGINNINGS
Harleysville Books is owned and operated by Shelly Plumb, a Harleysville resident. With a love for reading and a desire to be involved in the community, Shelly opened Harleysville Books on June 10, 2006.
Starting with new books only, Harleysville Books welcomed the community with a variety of programs for families, book clubs and teachers. Over the first few years, we listened to the needs of the community and added our Recycled Books in January, 2009. Harleysville Books has also forged relationships with public and private schools in the surrounding area.
Because of hard work and a loyal customer base, Harleysville Books now attracts nationally know authors like Lauren Myracle, Mike Lupica, Ann M. Martin and Suzanne Collins. It also continues to be a central meeting place for the Indian Valley, providing programming and events for children, families, book clubs and teachers.
We're are located in the Salford Square Shopping Center in Harleysville. With 6 employees, Harleysville Books aims to be a valuable part of the Indian Valley.
As the only independent bookstore servicing the communities of Harleysville, Souderton, Telford, Franconia, Green Lane and more, we are proud to be a part of the community. We support the Indie Bound movement and are proud to be to support local, independent businesses. Independent shops are creative, innovative and fun! We encourage you to register with Indie Bound and support other local businesses in our area.

Reading from Phoebe Wilcox's Angels Carry the Sun?
Dear Harleysville Books,
Wonderful to hear you are flourishing! I couldn't find contact information so I hope you don't mind my posting this here.
I am a Bucks County native with my first novel, Angels Carry the Sun, recently published. My publisher, Lilly Press, has nominated it for both the PEN/Faulkner award and for the Pushcart prize. I'm currently getting my books into local indie book shops and would love to read in your store. Let me know if you have any openings for me in your reading schedule. Please find my bio and a link to my webite below. Respond to pwilcox_writenow@yahoo.com.
All Best,
Phoebe Wilcox

NaNoWriMo
Hey,
How about joining in with NaNoWriMo and hosting a couple of write-ins during the month of November? More info can be found at NaNoWriMo.org. A number of famous, and well-awarded authors have started some of their novels using NaNoWriMo, including Sarah Gruen. Here's the link to her pep talk www.nanowrimo.org/node/1065558 and I believe it was "Water for Elephants" that she started during NaNoWriMo, as well as "Riding Lessons." Couldn't find your contact button, so I used this forum in desperation.
Thanks!
